Pato to join Corinthians
Oft-injured Brazil forward Alexandre Pato is poised to join Corinthians on a €15 million transfer from Milan.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the two teams have struck an agreement for Pato’s transfer with Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani staying in Brazil this week to sign off on the deal. Galliani confirmed receiving a bid last week from an unnamed club for Pato, who has been at Milan since 2007.
The Brazilian ace seemingly preferred a return to his native site over a move to a number of European sides keen on acquiring his services but one does have to wonder why the Rossoneri were willing to accept he offer for a player of Pato’s obvious potential, especially when you consider his relatively tender years.
“The Duck” has notched up 63 goals in 150 appearances during his stop/start spell at Milan and the skillful forward should surely garner a bigger fee in today’s inflated market.
According to Lalaziosiamonoi.it, Lazio have offered AWOL striker Mauro Zarate to Milan. President Claudio Lotito has reportedly contacted Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani so as to propose a player exchange.
If true, the former Inter flop could move to Milan on loan with the right of making the deal permanent at the end of the loan-spell. In exchange, Milan’s midfielder and long-time Lazio and Napoli target could go the other way.
However, the talks won’t be opened until 31 December due to Galliani’s time in Brazil.
Having almost sold two of their young Brazilian goalscorers and creators, the most surprising part of the Milan transfer story is that Didier Drogba is the main signing whom the club want to pen in the new year.
The experienced striking veteran is set to be asking for €5 million a season in wages, which is a sum Milan can only afford provided the get rid of high-earners Pato and Robinho.
Milan are set to hold talks with Drogba’s representatives and discuss about a possible transfer, says Calciomercato. The meeting has been scheduled few days after Galliani’s return from Brazil. The former Chelsea legend has so far scored 8 goals in 11 matches for Shanghai.
David Villa opportunity
According to Tuttosport, Milan are interested in signing Barcelona’s striker David Villa on loan in January.
The Italian giants have reportedly offered the 31-year-old veteran a six month loan deal with the option to sign him on a permanent deal.
If so, the negotiations for Mancehster City’s troubled ace Mario Balotelli and Shangai’s superstar Dider Drogba will be put in a stand-by situation.
Back for Strootman
Milan are set to open talks with PSV’s midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The money of Pato and Robinho sales could be influential due to PSV’s asking price.
Sporting director Marcel Brands has recently ruled out an away move for the Dutch international, but despite that, the Italian media suggest that Galliani’s next stop will be Eindhoven.
In the meantime, super agent Mino Raiola, who has has left Brazil and went to Holland, is currently negotiation with the Roodwitten to lower the €15 million asking price. Milan’s former midfielder Mark van Bommel is also considered as a helping hand in efforts to sign the highly-rated star.
Strootman has been an ever present feature of the PSV first team this season and has five Eredivisie goals to his name.
Chiriches, Neto, now… Carvalho?
Spanish newspaper Marca claims that Milan are ready to bid for Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho. The Portuguese veteran is seen as a short-term replacement for PSG’s Thiago Silva.
Carvalho has only featured in the Copa del Rey this season and the opportunity to clear his €4.5 million salary off the books will be welcomed by the Madrid side.
