OFFICIAL: Barcelona Buy Back Gerard Deulofeu From Everton
Deulofeu has returned to Barcelona, but may not stay long.
Barcelona have confirmed that they have exercised their €12 million buy-back clause in order to bring former Milan loanee Gerard Deulofeu back to the club.
Two years ago, Deulofeu left on a €6 million move to Everton, but the Catalan club included a series of clauses in the transfer which would allow them to sign him back at a later date. One of those clauses included a buyback option on the winger worth €12 million, which they had until June 30 to activate.
“Barcelona have activated the buy-back clause for Gerard Deulofeu. In the following days, the terms will be agreed with both Everton and the player. Deulofeu’s contract will run until 30 June 2019″, the official statement read.
In January, Deulofeu joined the Rossoneri on loan until the end of the season and he managed to score 4 goals and bag 4 assists in 31 appearances for the Serie A side.
However, the Barcelona comeback could turn out to be just temporary, as the Spaniard wants to play as much as possible next season. Since the former Milan man’s future is still up in the air, his agent will meet Barcelona next week to decide whether he will stay in Spain or play elsewhere again.
There is still a chance for a Milan return in case the 23-year-old winger, who is currently with the Spain U21 squad at the European Championships, opts not to stick with the Blaugrana.
