Mattia De Sciglio Sets Eyes On Milan Departure
Since Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo and vice-captain Ignazio Abate are out for the remainder of the season, Mattia De Sciglio has taken on that assignment. However, his recent performances have not satisfied the club’s fans. The situation escalated after the 2-1 home defeat to Empoli, when De Sciglio was insulted and harassed by the angry fans.
Mediaset reported that De Sciglio on his way out of the San Siro, when his family car was surrounded by some irritated fans. He even seemed to exchange insults with them before being eventually allowed to leave. This incident probably wouldn’t have happened if there weren’t rumors linking the 24-year-old defender with a Milan exit.
De Sciglio’s contract is set to expire in 2018, and Sky reports that he has already held a meeting with Massimo Mirabelli at Milanello to discuss his future. Milan intend to keep the Italy international, whilst a renewal of the contract is reportedly not a priority for him.
Arch rivals Juventus are closely monitoring and eagerly waiting for the outcome of the situation, as former Milan boss Allegri looks to reunite with De Sciglio. In case that happens, Milan will probably go for Napoli’s defender Faouzi Ghoulam as a possible replacement.
