Gerard Deulofeu Pushes For Milan Return
Gerard Deulofeu’s future is still up in the air.
Barcelona are set to re-sign Spanish winger Gerard Deulofeu, triggering the €12 million buy-back option they have set. Spanish Sport claims that the decision has been made, with the backing of new coach Ernesto Valverde. However, with Gerard Deulofeu yet to be convinced, Barca are keeping other negotiations open.
The initial plan is to buy Deulofeu back and then quickly sell him for a profit in the summer transfer window. On the other side, the Spanish international would be in favor of a Camp Nou return only if he is promised a starting role, which seems very unlikely.
“I’m living a very good moment in football and in the personal field, I’m calm. I have to think about the national team right now and then I have to choose the best option. It will be a busy summer in my case but I’m calm and everything will work out for sure”, said Deulofeu on a press conference couple of days ago.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport now suggests that he has made up his mind and wants to return to Milan. He does not want to join Barcelona, nor go back to Everton, and he has even notified the Rossoneri of his desire.
It’s no secret that if possible, Milan would be interested in extending Deulofeu’s stay at the San Siro, as he enjoyed a productive loan spell there until the end of the season. The 23-year-old, who will feature for Spain against Macedonia on 11 June, managed to rekindle his form, scoring 4 goals and assisting 3 times in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri.
