Fabio Borini Passes Milan Medical
Fabio Borini’s transfer to be announced in the coming hours.
Italian striker Fabio Borini is set to swap Sunderland for Milan after undergoing a medical in Italy on Thursday.
The 26-year-old flew to Milan on Wednesday as details of the move were ironed out, and the Serie A club posted photographs of him having tests at the La Madonnina Clinic on their website on Thursday morning. He will join the new side on loan for €1 million with option or obligation to buy for €5 million, according to Sky Italia.
Borini scored just twice in 19 Premier League starts last season as the Black Cats finally suffered relegation to the Championship. But that hasn’t stopped the Rossoneri from making a surprise bid for the striker, who also failed to make the grade at Liverpool.
He is set to become Milan’s fifth signing of the summer, following Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez and Andre Silva. The arrival of Borini on loan would not exclude another signing in the attack and it could indicate that Carlos Bacca’s future is certainly far away from Italy.
The former Roma man will be at Milanello for specific physical tests in the morning and will sign his contract on Friday afternoon.
