Antonio & Gianluigi Donnarumma To Sign Milan Contracts On Wednesday
One Donnarumma brother to extend, the other one to return.
Former Milan youth product Antonio Donnarumma is set to return to the club, after he has been pictured undergoing lab tests at Milanello since the beginning of the week.
The 27-year-old brother to current Milan first choice goalkeeper Gianluigi, is expected to complete a move to the San Siro club as part of the new contract set to keep his sibling at the Italian side until 2022.
There had been speculation regarding the future of Gianluigi after it emerged that he had initially rejected contract proposals from Milan but, with Antonio almost certain to be confirmed as the club’s new deputy goalkeeper, the 18-year-old is expected to stay with the Rossoneri. He has even return from his holiday on Tuesday, for the brothers should sign their contracts on Wednesday.
The move likely means veteran goalie Marco Storari, who recently signed a new one-year contract, will become the third choice goalkeeper.
Donnarumma’s current contract runs until 2018 but agent Mino Raiola said in June that he would not extend his agreement with Milan, sparking a furious reaction from some of the club’s ardent supporters.
Antonio spent the 2016-17 season at Asteras Tripoli, making 21 appearances as the club finished 12th in the Superleague Greece, just two points above the relegation zone.
While, Gianluigi is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in European football after emerging as Milan’s first choice goalkeeper following his debut for the club back in 2015, having now made 72 appearances in all competitions for Vincenzo Montella’s side.
