OFFICIAL: Milan Acquire Hakan Calhanoglu
Hakan Calhanoglu is the sixth signing for Milan this summer.
Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has joined Milan on a 4-year deal worth €20 million plus €4 million in bonuses, leaving Bayer Leverkusen two years before the end of his contract.
The 23-year-old becomes Milan’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Fabio Borini, Andre Silva, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva and Franck Kessie, as reported by the club’s official website.
“The three years at Leverkusen were very emotional. The support was outstanding especially during my four-month ban. Now I want to start a new chapter in my career”, he said in a club statement.

Calhanoglu has not played since February after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a four-month ban imposed by FIFA over his contract dispute with Turkish club Trabzonspor from 2011.
Trabzonspor lodged a claim alleging Calhanoglu had breached the terms of his contract without just cause when he signed for Karlsruhe in 2011, as he was a minor at the time and was ordered to pay the Super Lig side €1 million. The Turkish player joined Hamburg from Karlsruhe in 2012 and moved to Leverkusen two years later.
Calhanoglu, who has been capped 26 times by Turkey, is a major threat from set-pieces and with 11 scored free kicks, he has scored more set-pieces goals season than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues since the 2013/2014 season.
